What would be the ideal home? Shiba would benefit from being in a home with no other animals as she enjoys being the center of attention. Although Shiba can be relatively independent, she enjoys to spend time around her people, and therefore having somebody home most of the time would be ideal.
Good with other cats? She dislikes other cats initially, but given some time, she appears to tolerate them. We would recommend a very slow introduction.
Good with dogs? Unknown.
Good with children? Unknown, but likely good with older children.
Personality: Shiba is both independent and cuddly. We notice that she becomes very chatty when she is craving attention. Shiba loves to lay with her humans and receive head and neck scratches. However, she is not very playful, sometimes completely ignoring her toys.
How long will it take to settle into a new environment? It will likely take Shiba a couple days to settle into a new environment. Very soon after being welcomed into her foster home, she was eating, using the litter box, and cuddling.
Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Shiba is a super loving cat! She is great with new people entering the home, sometimes immediately crawling into their lap for pets. She patiently waits for her bowls to be prepared in the mornings and evenings. Shiba has become increasingly more chatty as she continues to adjust to her new environment. Although Shiba only has one eye, she is able to find her way around the house without any issues- but sometimes becomes a little uncoordinated with her cone on. If she could speak, I know she would be telling us how much she dislikes her cone. Despite her age, she is still super agile, and can jump onto furniture without any issues.
Medical: Had her eye removed (no treatment required)
