My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

Yeong-Gi has greatly improved since his first assessment. He was in the cubby, facing out in the loaf position appeared quite sweet and gentle, and and treats and accepted all petting. He was quickly coax out onto the shelf, and then down into the main kennel for more treats, excepted more petting, and was calm and picked up and set back down. He is demonstrating level 1 behavior but is being made level 2 because of his difficulty adjusting to the shelter environment.

Yeong-Gi interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.

A volunteer writes: Yeong-Gi acts like he isn't sure if he's been invited to the party, but is hoping the answer is yes. In his heartfelt attempts to figure things out here at the shelter, he's been hanging out right at the front. Yeong-Gi thinks it's his responsibility to cheer his neighbors on and he takes this assignment very seriously by puffing his cheeks out in hopeful solidarity as he watches them play. Yeong-Gi follows the feather wands and the crinkle balls with rapt interest, but of course the sidelines isn't where he belongs. When I offered to play with him with his very own toy, Yeong-Gi hopped back into his den. Though he has an admirable team spirit, figuring out how things work at the shelter hasn't been going as smoothly as he'd like. This is understandable as Yeong-Gi was found on the roof of an apartment building with another cat. We're not sure how they got there and what they were doing, but we know that Yeong-Gi's future will look so much brighter when it includes you.
Addendum(2/4): Yeong-Gi, the handsome tiger with chipmunk cheeks is opening up, following in his brother's Kousuke footsteps. He appreciates very much petting and goes bananas over catnip toys, feather wands and laser beams(see video)...The pair is absolutely stunning, coexists nicely in a large kennel and would love to go home together if at all possible. Come and meet them both at the Manhattan Care Center!
