Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It's hard to believe Archie has been with The Athens County Dog Shelter since September. When he came in we thought he would be quickly claimed, but he never was. For this sensitive boy, the abandonment was devastating. On his first night in the shelter, he pressed his forehead up to a volunteer's and just sighed. The only thing that made him feel better was talking to him while he laid his head in your lap.
While Archie has waited, he has stayed in 3 different foster homes. These kind people have given him a temporary family and a much needed break from the shelter. They all report that he is a very good boy who loves to lounge, including in his crate during the day. We have about 500 pictures of him snoozing in different positions but still no interest. What gives?
Archie loves toys and knows to chew on them instead of other objects. He has some separation anxiety when left alone, but is crate-trained and his fosters have worked to make him less anxious while gone. Archie is also being treated for happy tail--a condition where the tail gets injured from wagging too much and hitting things. All the love packed in his body is just too much.
We've had months to learn about this sweet soul and we know that he is a very sensitive guy who is longing for a forever family. Archie is dog friendly, covered in the most beautiful black spots, and will always be happy to be by your side. He deserves a family that will treasure him. Please call 740-593-5415 to meet him.
