Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there! My name is Monae, and I’m a 5-year-old Basset Hound and Black Lab mix, weighing in at 32 pounds. With my adorable short legs and soulful eyes, I’ll steal your heart in no time! I have a medium energy level, which means I enjoy a good walk or playtime, but I’m also just as happy curling up next to you for some quality cuddle time.
I was a wonderful mother to my puppies, nurturing and caring for them until they found their own forever homes. Now that those days are behind me—I’m spayed and ready for the next chapter of my life—I’m looking for a loving family who will give me the same care and devotion that I gave to my little ones.
At first, I can be a little shy, especially in new places or around new people. Loud noises and sudden movements make me a bit nervous, so I would love a patient, understanding family who will give me the time I need to feel safe. Once I warm up, I’m the sweetest cuddle bug who loves to be close to my people. There’s nothing better than a cozy nap next to my favorite humans!
I get along great with other dogs, cats, and the elderly, making me a wonderful fit for many different homes. Whether it’s a calm household or one with other furry friends, I’ll be happy as long as I have love and reassurance. I walk well on a leash, so I’d love to go on relaxing strolls with you. I also load up into a car easily and ride nicely, making me a great travel buddy for road trips, errands, or just a fun drive around town.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and gentle companion, I might be the perfect match for you. All I need is a little patience, a lot of love, and a warm lap to snuggle on. Please come meet me at the shelter—I can’t wait to find my forever family! 🐾💕
You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me. **************** All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.
Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.
Adoption Fees: -$60 for cats -$60 for dogs over 6 years -$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years -$100 for puppies up to 6 months

When you decide to adopt a pet, we charge a fee to cover some of our costs. (Except for 2 employees, all others are volunteers!) If there is any problem with your adopted pet, call us to work out a solution. Occasionally, we do take adopted pets back, but very seldom. This is why visiting our shelter is so important! We are willing to work with you! And we appreciate referrals!
