In the very early morning of August 4, 2005, Keegan was found by a Ft, Worth, TX Police Officer who picked him up and took him to their local animal shelter. Poor little angel had been mauled by another dog and had sustained massive trauma to his face. His upper lip and nose were basically tore off his face. This little trooper went through three surgeries to put his face back together and if you had seen what he looked liked before the surgeries you would agree with me when I say that his vet, Dr. Effie Giannopoulos literally performed a miracle on him. She did such an amazing job of putting Keegan's face back together again. Keegan is now doing so wonderful!!!! The great news is that at this time Dr. Effie doesn't see a need for any more surgeries. Keegan presents with a type of "hair lip" and he now has only one nostril which is pretty much centered above his lip and sort of runs horizontally. Keegan can breath just fine but you definitely can hear the air flow as he inhales and exhales through his one distorted nostril. He sounds like a child with congestion. Keegan is a fabulous pupster, who the vet thinks is somewhere around 4 years old and he weighs close to 12 pounds. He has the most gorgeous full tail of hair that fans up and over his back. He is such a little showstopper. Keegan gets along great with the other pupsters here at the Castle but I can't say how he would react around cats. He loves to run, chase the other pupsters as well as the squirrels and just be a part of the fun. He also loves to be held and will drop anything that he is doing to go and snuggle up with you.
