Meet Pepper! She is a 9-month-old Aussie Doodle and weighs 30 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on shots and on heartworm prevention. Pepper is good with dogs! She hasn’t been tested around children or cats. She is housebroken and crate trained. She has a lot of energy and is very playful! Her owner has been training her to play appropriately with people, because Pepper can be very demanding.
Pepper bit her previous owner after they took a plastic fork out of her mouth that she had taken from the garbage. She will resource guard food, her kennel and possibly toys when around other dogs and occasionally with humans. She needs a home with someone who is experienced in herding breeds and can provide the training that she needs.
Pepper is recovering from surgery to correct her tibial tuberosity avulsion fracture. She will need surgery either in March or April to have the pin removed. Pepper is currently on anxiolytic and sedative medication while she recovers. Her previous owner surrendered her to the local vet clinic because of her fracture. The current owner is surrendering her because they took care of her medical needs and are unable to keep her. She needs to go ASAP!
If you think you can provide a great home for Pepper, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Pepper.

More about this rescue
Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.
In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 82,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.
We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
