My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Betty – A Sweet, Mellow Kelpie Mix Ready for Her Forever Home!

Betty is a 1-2-year-old spayed Australian Kelpie mix with a heart of gold and a personality that wins everyone over. Whether she’s a Kelpie, Shepherd, Husky, or Collie mix, one thing is certain—she wears her unique look with style. Pictures don’t do her justice; she’s truly a beauty to see in person.

This laid-back girl has been an absolute angel with the boarding staff and even became a favorite at the vet’s office—so much so that the staff has visited her at boarding just to take her on special outings. She walks beautifully on a leash, loves her toys, and is incredibly smart, making her eager to learn and bond with her future family.

Betty does well with smaller dogs but would need a proper meet-and-greet before finalizing any new friendships. She was surrendered due to life changes through no fault of her own and is now ready to find a loving home where she can truly shine. While she has shown some resource guarding in boarding, this can be managed with proper training and structure.

Her Kelpie instincts are starting to show—when she sees goats, she doesn’t chase them as prey but instead seems to want to herd them, which is true to her breed’s nature. Kelpies are intelligent, energetic, and highly trainable herding dogs, known for their ability to move livestock efficiently, even running over the backs of a flock to get to the other side.

Betty is an affectionate, fun-loving companion who will thrive in a home where she gets love, guidance, and activities that engage her sharp mind. Could Betty be the perfect fit for you? Apply today to adopt this one-of-a-kind girl!

Additional adoption info

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise.
