Meet Sassy, a loooong beautiful girl...everything about her is long from her nose to her back! She was surrendered to ATDR by a breeder who was sizing down on their pack. She's now sharing life in a comfortable foster home being well loved and well cared for while ATDR searches for the perfect forever home for her!
At six years old, Sassy is a bit set in her ways, so we’re fairly clear as to what kind of home would be best for her! She is completely kennel trained and doesn't mind going into the crate when asked. She can a bit of a rough player so it’s good that she can find some down time in her comfortable spot in the crate. In the past, Sassy has been selective with her companions and singled out a couple in her temporary foster home that she was not fond of…all different, so she didn't have a 'type.' However, since coming to her current foster home she has been doing surprisingly well cohabitating with two senior female doxies (Lady and Bella who can also be seen on this website). She is actually submissive to both these seniors and she is submissive to a friend’s female dog also.
Sassy enjoys having a doggy door so she can run in and out as often as she likes. She loves having a backyard with plenty of wildlife to run after and neighbor dogs to 'converse' with! Sassy is a chewer and loves Kong treat toys, de-stuffing plush toys, etc. She’s definitely a cuddle bug…she can be demanding when she wants attention but mostly she’s a love sponge! She will soak up as much lovin' as her human is willing to give her. This beautiful girl is definitely somebody's dream dachshund. She has the quintessential dachshund personality being strong willed and stubborn, but she is also very loving and loyal. We have no doubt she would also love to sleep in the big bed with her human(s)!
Sassy needs to go to a home with no small children. Responsible teenagers would probably be okay. She will steal your heart and love you more than you could ever imagine.
