My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little cutie transferred to our care from Orange County Animal Services. Apparently, he and another bunny were left at a doctor’s office when the owner could no longer care for them. Merlot has left his sad experiences behind him and is a joyful bun. He is friendly, loves to be petted, and will zoomie with reckless abandon. He expresses his joy with creative and gracefully executed binkies. Merlot lives with a gentle dog and cat in his foster home and enjoys their company. Merlot got his name from his beautiful dark red eyes, which are the same color as a glass of merlot. REWs, or ruby-eyed whites, are often known as the golden retrievers of the rabbit world due to their friendly dispositions, and Merlot is no exception. He enjoys human company and is quick to stand up on your lap if you have veggies for him. Merlot is ready to meet his forever family!

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
