My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cash is a sweet, gentle giant. Well, giant might be an exaggeration, but he's a big boy at 14 pounds. He enjoys playing a teddy bear at bed time and loves to be spooned. During wake time, he is very easy natured, enjoys watching birds from the comfort of his perch at the window. He isn't very active, but is a professional biscuit maker. He loves to hug foster mama's arm while she pets his face. What a doll!

Cash would be ideal with a relatively quiet home looking for a calm, loving companion. He would do well with, or without other companion pets.

Cash was adopted from Stray HELP as a kitten, and recently returned to us after more than 6 years. We were hoping he would have a forever home with his adopter, but we agree it is in his best interest that he was returned to us. He got a good bill of health from the vet upon his return.

Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeL. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination. An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. You can download it from here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BywbjguyJTiLb2tfV1ROOEdZMVE/view

We strongly believe in the “buddy system” for our rescues. In most cases, if there is not another fur baby in the home we ask that you adopt our kits with a partner, unless otherwise mentioned that they would be happy alone.

If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program visit our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/StrayHELPNY/.

We raise our rescues in foster homes and are familiar with their individual personality. They are accustomed to people, phones, radios and tv; all the noises of home life. We work with perspective parents to find their perfect match.

We are the adoption partner of #PoughkeepsiePetSmart and you can visit some of our available cats and kittens there during business hours.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and care for stray and homeless animals while providing humane education to the community.
We work with members of the community to help cats in need. We conduct trap/neuter/return and place projects and train home and business owners on how to properly care for free roaming cats on their property and in their neighborhoods.
We focus in southern Dutchess County, but help people throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties by connecting them with local rescues that can work with them, loaning equipment, coordinating spay/neuter clinics and offering guidance.
