My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trixie is a 2.5 year old, 60ish lb, Lab/Golden mix, looking for an active family that can keep up with Trixie!

She is a sweet girl who is house-trained, crate-trained (but not a fan) and walks well on leash. We are told "She is great with kids, but smaller ones may get knocked over by accident as she doesn't know her size and strength, so be mindful if/when they are around. We have not had her around other dogs so we are unsure of how she is with them. She knows how to open the outdoor gate, so a secure latch on handle is necessary!! Trixie will chase anything, so may want to keep her away from chickens! She is smart but can be mischievous if left on her own for very long. She has more energy than we can manage, so her new family will need to be willing to give her plenty of exercise and direction as a tired dog is a good dog!"

As we learn more, we will update, but if you would like to meet Trixie, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
