My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

5 yo Axel and his sister Canada were rescued by their foster mom from a backyard breeder, and it was clear that they have gone through a lot in life. They are now looking for their forever home, where they can chase each other and play in a fully fenced yard.

Axel is.50 lb and Canada is 60 lb. They are very calm and quiet husky -malamute pups, They are great with strangers and love getting petted.

They both enjoy being outside and going on car rides. They know the leashes very well. They get very excited, so they will pull when walking them. They need a home with active lifestyles and plenty of time.
They know to shake before going into the house. They know their beds. They know to sit before taking a snack. They both enjoy being outside chewing on a rawhide-free toy under the sun. I know they’re huskies, but they do like sun-bathing.

Canada is the female black and white Siberian Husky. She is about 60 lbs. She enjoys lower back scratches and being brushed. Canada likes to watch and stare at anything you do. She is a curious girl. She is still hesitant about humans. So please be easy and slow with her. She likes to start by smelling your hands. I guess that’s her way of knowing if their evil hands or good hands. She does not do well with children of all ages, just adults. She doesn’t mind meeting other dogs.

Axel is the white malamute/husky mix. He is about 50 lbs, and he is a jolly boy. He will greet anyone with a big grin, a wagging tail, and the happy energy that only a husky can emanate. He will sit with his back against your two feet and wait for pets. He is smart. He knows the drill. Once you have a routine, he will get it quickly. He likes to get on furniture. His personality is lively. He is a toy hogger. He likes to have access to all the toys. He doesn’t like meeting other dogs. He prefers to only play with his sister, Canada. He loves getting his belly rubbed. He enjoys cuddles, too.

These two need positive reinforcement after what they have been through. They deserve a chance to live the other half of their lives being huskies. Canada and Axel both really have the best of hearts. They just need love.

They are fully vetted, fixed and chipped. They would do good with anyone with previous husky experience. They are bonded, so they have to find a home where they can be adopted together.

They are both heartworm negative and is kept on heartworm and flea preventative.

The pups are being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home.
Their total adoption and transport fee is $800

To meet these gorgeous pups via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com

Additional adoption info

If the meet goes well, we do a homecheck virtually or in person, depending on where the pup is located.
If approved for adoption, you sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee and we send you your new best friend.
Our adoption fees are $250 - $400 for most dogs. However, breed specific dogs and puppies cost more.

Special needs, & senior dogs may have a reduced fee. See individual dog profile for specific adoption fee.
If you choose one of our pets, please submit an initial adoption application available at www.savesomesouls.com to proceed further. We do not answer inquiries, without application, due to time constraint.

We spay/neuter our animals prior to adoption unless they are under 3 months old, for which we will require a spay/neuter agreement in place, and you will have to make a $150 deposit which will be refunded after we receive the proof of sterilization surgery. Once fixed, we transfer the pup's chip to you.

Out of town adopters must live in a city where we have our volunteers available, and the pet must be returned to us if it does not work out, so you have to hold them till we arrange transport.
Adoption approval is only final after meet and greet and homecheck are complete.
There are often multiple applications filled out for the same animal. In these cases our decision on which applicant adopts the animal is based solely on the best home for that animal after interview, all home visits, meet & greets and reference checks are complete.
If you are not selected to adopt one particular animal, it does not mean you can't adopt from us if your adoption application has been approved. We will work with you to find another animal in our rescue who will be the best fit for your home.

More about this rescue

Our animal rescue section has been organized with very compassionate and dedicated volunteers whose only goal is to save a pet.
Each day hundreds of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the kill-shelters of America. In Houston itself, we have the largest population of strays and our shelters are full with strays and abandoned animals including those surrendered by their owners because of reasons such as unwillingness to take care of them, pregnancy, divorce, loss of job, loss of home, prison intake, loss of compassion, empathy, you name it. Add to this, are abandoned pets on the side of the street by owners. Our mission is to give these puppies another chance at love and life. If every person will stop buying from breeders and adopt a shelter pet and spay and neuter them, we will be able to eradicate our euthanasia problem.
