My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxanne
When the Animal Control Officer brought me to the HSHC on December 28, they named me Roxanne. It means something bright, shining, or radiant. What a lovely name. I am 2-years-old, already spayed, and ready to find my forever home. When you are a stray cat who has probably gotten lost or abandoned, going someplace new is scary. I have `stage fright` regarding being in the spotlight. The interviewer lady (IL) spent a long time with me yesterday trying to get me to come see her. I was playing it cool, but when she pretended her hand was a mouse under my blanket, I couldn`t help but join in the fun. It sparked my hunting instinct, and I pounced on the moving lump. I let her pet me once because she was utterly besotted with me. She told me my coat looked so soft and inviting. I knew she wanted to give me a cuddle, but we had just met. I need time to develop my courage and trust new people. For example, when I was being moved from one room to the cattery, I dashed away from the staff member. I can be a runaway bride! It shows you how much of a scaredy cat I am when it comes to new or strange situations. However, I hope someone will overlook my shyness, take me home with them, and give me plenty of time to adjust to my new role as a pet kitty. 2-5-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
