My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She is currently enrolled in the Best Chance Dog Program at the nearby correctional facility where she is learning commands such as sit, stay, come, lay down, army crawl and more!

From Athena`s handler/trainer: My name is Athena and I`m around 3 years old. I am a Shepard mix with some of the best qualities they have to offer: I`m loyal, fun-loving, gentle, and protective, just to name a few. Even though I`ve had a horrible and rough past, I am still loving and friendly especially to humans. I adore playing fetch and frolicking around with other dogs who mesh with my personality. Although, my fondest activity is rolling onto my back for endless belly rubs. I`ve been told that I`m very photogenic and have a fantastic smile. If you haven`t fallen in love with me yet, come see me and I guarantee you will.

More about this shelter

PCHS is a volunteer organization created in 2005 to stop the euthanasia of unclaimed animals at the local pound.
Our shelter facility opened it's doors August 4th, 2011.

Our mission is to prevent suffering, neglect, abuse and cruelty to animals through community awareness and education, promoting responsible pet ownership and ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in Pawnee County, Kansas. Since 2005, we have helped over 2,000 lost, stray, dumped, or relinquished animals to find loving homes.
