After being abandoned, extremely pregnant, and alone, Violet was found and taken in by the Wood County Dog Shelter who transfered her to us shortly after. Together, we got Mama Violet a foster who helped her give birth to all 11 of her babies, helped her wean them from milk, and gave her some much needed love, care, and paitence in the meantime! After a long recovery from giving birth and a looong vet visit, Mama Violet is fully recovered, vetted, and ready for the chance at a home she`s never gotten before!
After everything she`s been through, Violet is pretty weary of strangers and needs a little time to warm up before she‘ll show off her playful personality! Once she gets comfortable, however, you`ll end up locked in Belly Rub Time for hours!
Kids: Violet is very excitable so as long as the kids can handle her jumping, she’ll adore them to no end!
Dogs: Violet is dog selective and prefers a nice, slow introduction. Any loud or high-energy dogs might be too much for her.
Cats: We aren’t sure how Violet reacts to cats.
Violet`s adoption fee includes her spay, age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, heartworm test, and initial deworming. To find out more about miss Violet email wchsadopt@gmail.com or visit wchumane.org/adopt

Our adoptions are processed same day! All we ask is for an adoption questionnaire and survey to be completed as well as a copy of the adopter's state ID in order to assure they are at least 18 years old.
Each animal has a fee which must be paid at the time of adoption and there is a small amount of paper to be completed as well.
We ask that adopted animals safely leave the shelter either in a carrier or in a leash and collar.
All adoptable animals have been spayed/neutered, received, age appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip! Cats have been tested for FIV and FeLV. Dogs have been tested for heartworm as well as kept current on flea and heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter
The Wood County Humane Society was originally founded in 1904, and has been committed to the well-being of many different species of domesticated animals that require our help. In 1988, the Minniebelle Conley Shelter was established through the generous legacy of the Minniebelle Conley Trust, and our current location was built to provide these services, and has continually been doing so since. We are a private, non-profit, limited admission, 501(c) (3) organization and rely on the generous contributions and donations of our members and residents of Wood County. We do not receive any funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States for our daily operations.
