My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DUKE and DUTCHESS 👑 👸 🐾

Currently safe in a southern foster home, Duke and Dutchess are two gorgeous puppies with a rough start to life. Like so many before them, they were discarded and abandoned—but thankfully, they were found near their foster home and taken in with love.

We’re still learning all about these sweet siblings, but the videos we’ve seen show happy, wagging tails and a whole lot of puppy sweetness. They appear to be large-breed pups with some shepherd mixed in, and we estimate their age to be about 4 to 4.5 months.

Now, a funny side note: somewhere along the way, I thought their names were Duke and Dutchess…but it turns out I made that up in my head. The good news? The names stuck, and they wear them well!

Duke is a striking black-coated boy, while Dutchess is a beautiful brown-coated girl. Both are getting along wonderfully with their foster’s resident dog, and now we’re on the hunt for their perfect forever homes (separately).

If you’re looking to add a large-breed puppy to your family, Duke and Dutchess are waiting to meet you! Apply today and help them write the next, brighter chapter of their story. 🐾

More about this rescue

Big Wave Dog Rescue strives to be one of the most collaborative and positively known Animal Rescues in the state of Massachusetts and surrounding states. BWDR is a foster-based, volunteer-run organization built around passionate people looking to make a difference where we don’t see the difference being made. Southern shelters are overrun with animals that will never be adopted. Big Wave will take the dogs the South cannot place and bring them to New England homes where they become family. In addition to helping out-of-state dogs make their entrance into MA, we will help surrounding communities by supporting local cases of animals in need of a fresh start.

Over the next several years, we are committed to building a community of empathetic volunteers that are educated about the societal issues surrounding animal homelessness in our country. Through first-hand volunteer opportunities and full transparency regarding our animal’s humble and often traumatic beginnings, our community will guide our animals, share their stories, and move them forward to a new season of life no matter their age or breed.

Finding our animals a place to call “home” is not a task we take lightly. Communicating with and providing adopters with resources regarding training and behavior will be a priority for setting our dogs up for success. Establishing connections to local dog trainers and emphasizing the value of utilizing professionals for behavior modification and obedience is of high importance to us in keeping our promise to our animals.
