My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sandie / Female / 6 years / Mixed Breed / 35lbs / Fostered in North York / Originally from Barbados

Good with dogs / Good with older kids / House and crate trained

NO cats please

Do you want to know a secret? Just because you have a tough start to life doesn’t mean you won’t get your happy ending. That’s what sweet Sandie is looking for - her very own happy ending, or rather, a happy beginning, for a new life filled with love, treats, snuggles and playtime!

Sandie spent the majority of her life in a world that didn't treat her very well. She was homeless, wandering the beaches of Barbados, tired, weak and hungry. Fast forward to today, where she is thriving in her foster home, and ready to find her forever family!

Her new life here in Canada has proven to her that dreams can come true! Ever since coming to Canada, she has made a huge amount of dog and human friends. Her deep gaze into your eyes is a constant reminder of her gratitude. Sandie really loves play time & snuggles with her fur companions, but this adorable girl is also all about relaxation, naps, and belly-up snoozing—her favorite way to sleep.
She’s a quiet and gentle soul who enjoys car rides, leisurely walks, and simply being near her person. While she may be a little shy around new people and busy environments at first, she quickly warms up with a little patience and love. Although she's not a fan of the hustle and bustle of a place like downtown Toronto, she does well in quieter parts of the city, taking her time to sniff her surroundings and explore the great unknown. She would prefer a backyard, but a green space nearby for her to explore would be just fine too.

She already knows “come” and is working on learning new commands—she’s a smart cookie who just needs a gentle approach! She’s fully house-trained but may need a little adjustment in a new home as she settles in.She’s happy to be left alone during the day, whether crated or free roaming and she gets along well with other dogs, but she appreciates her personal space at first when meeting new furry friends.

You can tell Sandie is so happy to have a second chance and finally a life of luxury! Could you be the family to continue to show her all the amazing things she has missed out on for so many years? She deserves so much and asks for nothing at all!

Give her the life she deserves and apply to adopt her today at www.caninehaven.org/dog-application.
