My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peach - exactly as her name implies, an absolute PEACH! A sweet 2 year old with sooo much love to give. A quick learner, snuggle bug, and lover of kisses. Once you earn her trust, which only took about 2 days, she is super obedient and calm. Peach is a lovely dog (and a previous mother!) who anyone with a big heart will absolutely adore! FOLLOW ME ON IG @ladypeach_nyc

My Back Story: Peach was saved from Georgia, where she was used for breeding, puppies sold and then chained up with no food/water left outside to die. Thankfully a kind person called animal control and she was saved. When her previous owner called the shelter about his AC citation, he said she was of no use to him anymore because he got the money from her puppies. I am SO impressed with how great & kind of a girl she is despite these conditions. She is so resilient and deserves kisses for the rest of her life.

Would Benefit Most From: Family or couple where someone is WFH, would love a doggie friend (though it might take me a day or two to warm up, I do love to play!), someone who is interested in or experienced in training a reactive dog (she learns quick!), lives close to a park or backyard so I can run around!

Personality & Characteristics: Peach is the most pretty girl with hazel eyes that make her so precious. Most of the day is spent napping on the couch and cuddling, with sprinkles of fetch thrown in. Peach loves her walks and is very happy to go on adventures/long walks/hikes with her humans. We're not sure her breed mix, but she's very athletic and could be a great running pal. She warms up quickly and once that happens, she is quick to learn new tricks and behaviors! Within 5 days of fostering her she overcame her fear of the crate, new people coming into the home, going down the stairs and learned SIT! She is potty trained and will let you know when she wants to go outside. A quick, obedient learner and lover of belly rubs, she really is a PEACH!

Good with: Peach is reactive/protective to other animals who get too close to her. She is calmer when meeting other dogs outside, but indoors shows agression. We're learning her triggers and working through that. Has shown us that after a day or two with another dog, she will warm up to them & play with them, no longer being aggressive at all. She takes slow intros and some patience here.

My foster dog is: Crate trained, potty trained and low shed

3 Keywords for your pup: Lovable, Intelligent, Athletic

Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): Peach is a 7, she has puppy playfulness bursts of energy throughout the day, and otherwise is fast asleep on the couch.

Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet 99% of the time!

Walking Manners: Polite and calm, when she's ready to go home she might pull a little, but responds well when you tell her no.

Appetite: Loves food! Treat driven which makes her easy to train, she eats all of her standard food with no issues. She will not beg for your table food.

Does the following: (Gets car sick, nervous outside, has separation anxiety, hates the bath, none of the above) Has separation anxiety, we are working on that and making progress. Good in the bath. Not nervous outside. GREAT in the car, falls asleep.

Favorite Things: Snuggles, head rubs, walks in nature, peanut butter and all treats, playing fetch and nibbling on her toys

Commands/Tricks: Does well with SIT, PAW & NO. Will jump up on the couch if you say COUCH.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea.
