Doc is a very affectionate 5-year-old male cat. He has had a unique journey in his life, starting on the streets of Baltimore City. While living outdoors, Doc sadly picked up FIV from another cat. FIV-positive cats like Doc can live long, healthy lives with regular, normal vet care and nutrition. They can also only transmit the disease to other cats through intense fighting (the kind of fighting non-neutered outdoor males do for territory). But not an issue for Doc, as he is a super friendly boy who gets along great with other cats!
This friendly and talkative boy loves his people and other cats. He is a true catch! He loves to snuggle and follow you around the house. He looooves food and he will definitely let you know when he’s hungry. He offers endless love and constant companionship in exchange for 2 cans of wet food a day. He would do great with kids and anyone looking for a loving cat who will always be by their side.
Doc has encountered dogs but seemed scared of them. His foster believes with proper acclimation he could do okay with a cat-friendly dog.
Interested in adopting a kitty?!
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which is located on our website at: www.rescueandadopt.org/adopt.
Please remember to include:
1) Your $15 adoption deposit, which will be subtracted from the adoption fee, if you are approved to adopt.
2) Vet records for any current cats or dogs in the home. For cats, we require that they are up to date on their rabies and FVRCP vaccines and seen for an annual wellness exam. For dogs, we require that they are up to date on their rabies vaccine and seen for an annual wellness exam.
3) Permission from your landlord if you rent from a private landlord. We can verify pet policies at apartment complexes.
4) Proof of home ownership if you do NOT live in Maryland.
Adoption fees: $150 for kittens and cats under 5 years old. $125 for cats 5 years old and over. We do offer a 15% discount for adopting 2 ADULT cats (over 1 year old) at once, and for certain professions -- first responders, teachers and active or former members of the military.
