My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Colt! Colt is an affectionate, laid-back, and incredibly smart pup looking for his forever home. His favourite spot is the couch, where he loves to cuddle up next to his people while watching TV. He’s happiest when he’s in the same room as his family, ideally getting plenty of belly rubs and pets. Colt enjoys long-leash walks on trails and in parks, where he can take in all the new scents and he has made great progress with leash walking! While he gets a little excited at first, he settles into a nice rhythm and stays by his foster’s side with some gentle reminders. He’s not interested in chasing small animals and is very food-motivated, liver bites and Dentastix are the way to his heart!

Colt currently lives with children and is great with them. He hasn’t been around other animals, so careful introductions and patience would be needed if there are other pets in the home. He is reactive to other dogs while on a leash, barking and pulling when he sees them. However, with proper training and redirection, he is improving and learning how to stay calm. Colt is fully house trained but has some separation anxiety. His fosters have been working on gradual departures, and he’s been showing steady progress, settling more quickly and staying calmer when left alone for short periods. He’s also doing great with his “place” command, learning to relax in his designated spot when needed.

The ideal home for Colt would be one with a big yard and a family that enjoys the outdoors. He would thrive with someone who works from home or can provide structure and continued training to help build his confidence. Colt is a loving, goofy, and loyal companion who will fill your life with snuggles and joy!
