My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nutmeg: A Skittish but Sweet Bunny Looking for His Forever Home!

If you’re ready to offer a patient and loving home to a sweet but skittish bunny, Nutmeg might just be the perfect companion for you! At 2 years old, Nutmeg is an adorable English Spot mix with a beautiful, unique coat and a heart of gold—once he warms up to you. Though he’s a bit shy and cautious around new people, Nutmeg is incredibly sweet at his core, and with time and gentle handling, he’ll reward you with his soft, gentle nature.

About Nutmeg: Nutmeg is a little on the skittish side, and it takes him a bit of time to feel comfortable around new people and in new environments. His cautious nature is totally normal for rabbits, and once he learns to trust you, he’ll start to show his true personality. He’s a quiet, observant bunny who enjoys exploring his space and hopping around, but he’ll need a family who understands the importance of patience as he gets settled into his new home.

Though Nutmeg may be a little nervous at first, he is not aggressive and won’t hesitate to snuggle once he feels safe. He’ll need a quiet and calm environment, where he can slowly adjust to his new surroundings without feeling overwhelmed.

Rabbit Care: Nutmeg, like all rabbits, has some important care needs that must be met to keep him happy and healthy. Here’s what you need to know:

Diet: A healthy diet is key to Nutmeg’s well-being. He requires unlimited access to high-quality hay, which is essential for his digestive system and dental health. Fresh leafy greens such as cilantro, parsley, and dandelion greens are also a must in his diet. You can offer a small amount of rabbit pellets each day, but fresh water should always be available. Nutmeg’s diet is not just about nutrition—it also helps keep him occupied and content!

Space to Roam: Rabbits need plenty of space to hop, stretch, and explore, and Nutmeg is no exception. He’ll need a large area (like a playpen or bunny-proofed room) where he can move around freely. He loves to investigate new places, so having safe, enriching toys and hideouts in his area will keep him mentally stimulated.

Litter Training: Nutmeg is a smart bunny and is likely to learn litter box habits quickly with consistency. Most rabbits prefer to use one spot for bathroom needs, so it’s essential to provide him with a litter box in a quiet, easily accessible location. Be sure to use rabbit-safe, non-clumping litter.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.
