My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Jefferson! I’m a handsome guy, believed to be about 2.5 years old (born around May 2022) and maybe a boxer mix. My story started with a bit of an adventure! I was found running around in Champlin, seemingly without a care in the world. I even gave some nice folks quite the chase, running across Highway 169! It took a few hours and several people before my foster mom finally caught me. I was pretty skinny and had some sore paws, but I knew right away I was safe with her and happily took treats (Culver’s chicken was my favorite!). After a week of waiting to see if my family would come forward (my foster mom tried everything to find them!), I joined the amazing team at NDLB. My paws are all healed now, and I’m feeling much better, although I could still use some more yummy food to help me gain weight. I get along great with other dogs. I enjoy their company, though I'm more of a laid-back companion than a super playful one. I do need a doggie friend in my forever home – I don’t like being alone. I’m crate trained and quiet in my kennel, especially if I have a light on. I love to snuggle up with my bed and pillows and snooze the day away. I walk nicely on a leash with minimal pulling, and I’m a great car rider (I prefer the back seat or the back of an SUV so I can stretch out). I haven’t met any cats yet, but my foster mom thinks I’d be fine with them. I didn't even chase the rabbit that ran through the yard when I was found! Now, I do have a little something called Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome (SARDS). Basically, it means my eyesight isn't the best right now, and it will get worse. I can see some things, but I bump into stuff sometimes. We don't know when my eyesight will change – it could be tomorrow, next month, or even years from now. And we also don't know if I'll lose all my sight or just some of it. Because of this, I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, especially if they’re standing over me. I’m good with kids, but my foster mom thinks I'd be best with older kids who understand my vision challenges. Despite all of this, I’m a happy, loving boy who just wants a forever home. Will you be my family? I promise to give you all my love!
