Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Joey is 4.1 lbs of puppy love! He is a Poodle mix and is about 6 mos old. He's all legs and is probably about 10 inches at his shoulder. He was found by animal control wandering as a stray in the LA area, no tags or microchip. He was sitting at the shelter for 3 weeks before he was rescued by us. I have no idea why he wasn't scooped up in that time because Joey is as cute and fluffy and silly as a puppy gets! This sweet puppy LOVES children and is very gentle with them. Joey is good with cats and is learning to respect them. He's not aggressive, just curious and with a dog savvy cat he should learn to respect the kitty without a problem. Joey has never met a stranger and greets everyone with a body wag and lots of kisses. He is so trusting and happy!
Joey is a power walker! He walks well with his harness and leash and loves to go, go, go! Life is too short to stop and smell fire hydrants, trees or the roses! He loves to walk fast and will be a great workout partner for a lucky person! If Joey isn't cuddling in your arms, he's racing around the yard with a toy in his mouth, entreating you to chase him! He has bright, alert, and intelligent eyes, he watches planes and birds fly over head and mimics other dogs seconds after they do something interesting to him. Since he's so smart, his mind will need to be stimulated and challenged often. For all his puppy energy, this little guy calms right down when you pick him up. He closes his eyes and relaxes immediately in your arms.
Joey needs an active home that is puppy savvy and puppy safe- no poisonous plants, no dangerous fertilizers, no small open spaces in fences, etc. If bored, Joey will chew plants or soil clumps. He stays out of mischief when he has a Kong full of treats or another canine friend to play with. He will sleep all night and can hold his bladder without a problem for the 8 hours he's in his bed. Joey is learning house training skills and is doing a great job so far. Joey will need to sleep in the house and be treated as a member of the family at all times.
Joey has a funny little bark that ends with a silly howl so he wouldn't be ideal in an apartment. He needs a good size yard to run around in- because that's what he loves to do- and boy can this little guy run fast!! He can play non-stop all day and would LOVE to have a playful canine buddy for company when his family is away at work. His favorite thing to do is to chase his buddies at full speed around the yard!!
IMPORTANT: Joey is with Bay Area Poodle Rescue, but he's being fostered in Long Beach. If interested, please submit an online application with Bay Area Poodle Rescue: http://www.bayareapoodlerescue.org/OnlineApplication.html. Do not complete the Poodles and Pals application. Joey is available for adoption only in
California. If you have any questions regarding Joey, email BAPRSoCal@gmail.com.
