My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rosario: The Sweet and Resilient Senior Lovebug!

Rosario is a special needs senior cat with a heart as big as his story. At roughly 10–11 years old, this charming boy has faced more than his share of challenges but has come out stronger and sweeter than ever.

Rosario has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which gives him a quirky walk where he tends to circle to the left. A calming collar has been helpful in keeping him comfortable. He’s also FIV+, completely toothless, and prone to occasional upper respiratory flare-ups, but none of that slows him down from being an affectionate and loving companion.

Rosario was rescued in dire condition, asking humans for help at a local business in Troy. After receiving lots of TLC, full meals, and a full mouth tooth extraction, he’s now thriving and ready for his forever home.

Here’s what makes Rosario special:

Extremely friendly and social: He’s never met a stranger and will climb right into your lap for pets.

Affectionate to the core: Rosario loves giving neck kisses, and he’s even been known to wrap his paws around his favorite humans for full-on hugs!

Great with other cats: While he loves feline company, his enthusiasm for attention means he might do best as a solo cat unless paired with a patient friend who doesn’t mind his exuberance.

Rosario does have a few quirks. He has a patch of fur on his nose that may never grow back and continues to have sneezing attacks from his time outdoors. But rest assured, his sneezes are not contagious.

This resilient lover boy is spayed, litter box trained, and up-to-date on vaccinations. FIV+ cats like Rosario have the same life expectancy as other cats and can lead happy, healthy lives with proper care.

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, and downright charming companion who will fill your home with love and laughter, Rosario is your guy!

Rosario is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.
