Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mason!
Mason is our resident couch potato here at HAP! He recently came to our facility when his previous owner was no longer able to care for him and his favorite thing to do is to nap! This big headed boy has tested out all the beds in our facility and the foster home and hasn't found one he hasn't liked. Besides snoozing, Mason loves to go on walks and despite his size, he's very well mannered on leash. He's been so well mannered that Mason has become the front office dog and most days can be found relaxing in his bed behind the desk where he's happy to greet anyone who comes through the door. Don't worry though, this man doesn't work too hard and definitely takes advantage of his allotted break times! Mason also knows sit, shake, both paws, and wait and is a perfectly patient gentleman that will wait while you bundle him and you up before heading out for an adventure. If you're looking for a laid back companion with a loveable personality, Mason is your guy!
Mason recently participated in our Doggy Day Out Program and here's what the volunteer had to say about him: "Mason has become a volunteer and staff favorite! Lately, he has been depressed and has needed some time out of the shelter and some TLC. So last weekend and this weekend he went on a doggy day out to two local dog friendly establishments and he was absolutely a star! He received many compliments on his well behaved manners both inside and outside with other dogs present. He met lots of people including kids and was very gentle with them. He knows the sit command and will give you paw for a treat! He is very smart and will settle into any routine like the champ that he is. He walks great on the leash and loves most other dogs. He can be a very tad bit dog selective but overall he loves most other dogs and has lots of friends at the shelter. He loved sitting up on the bench with us to be part of the action! He will get talkative if you are not paying him some attention….he soaks up all the attention he can but is also happy to take a nap out and about when he is feeling sleepy. He jumps right up into the car and rides well looking out the window or napping along the way. He is absolutely a gem!"
Mason also recently spent some time in a foster and here's what they had to say about him: "His overnight foster weekend was absolutely fantastic. He is 100% house trained and slept all through the night in bed with me. He is an absolute great house guest! He walked well with our two dogs and really wanted to be friends with them. He seems to be crate trained; however, we only put him in for a few hours…once we were home he was barking in excitement to be let out. During the work day he was great just out in the spare bedroom just lounging in bed, chewing on some bones and getting the treats out of his Kong puzzle…but mostly just napping the day away (camera footage gave us this info). We kept the door shut due to our dogs just to keep everyone safe. I imagine he would be fine left alone inside his new home without an issue unless you have another dog then I would keep them separated until you are sure they are good to go. I cannot say enough of how great and ready to go home Mason is. He did previously live in a home for over 2 years and was returned to the shelter for no fault of his own (housing issue). You could really see his eyes light up and happy smiles on his face when he was home with us. He is perfect and ready to go to his forever home!!!"
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
