Meet Oscar! He's the friendliest cat you'll ever meet! We say he's part dog. He'll follow you around just like a dog, always needs to know what you're up to and be involved. He gets along well with other cats, but he does have FIV. That stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. FIV is contagious to other cats, but only through blood. Cats can co-exist peacefully and not transfer FIV to each other.
Cats with FIV will have a depressed immune system and can get sick easier and will need medical treatment immediately if they do get sick. Thankfully, there are supplements that can help his immune system like probiotics and lysine. And never underestimate the benefits a stable, stress-free home and a loving family will have on a cat's immune system. FIV+ cats can and do live long healthy lives. Don't let it scare you away from this angel of a guy!
