Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This big thick mushy blue brindle hunk of love is Archer! This heartbreaker came into the pound after his owner went to jail. The owner ended up staying there and they released this guy for adoption in order to keep him from being put down due to pound crowding. Thankfully a wonderful foster home was happy to take this marshmallow of a guy in until his dream home is found!
Archer is about 65 lbs or so, but may still gain a bit more as he came in a little too lean. He’s a big boned chonk of a baby who is 24 months old. He’s gone to the vets and had everything done including vaccines, deworming, microchipping, neuter, heartworm test, and he is current on preventative!
Archer is such a great boy! He has medium activity level that perfectly reflects his humans. He’s ready to go for a hike or any adventure you’d like to bring him on, but he also would absolutely love to snuggle up under the covers and snooze with you on these cold winter days! He always has a smile and a wagging tail, and while he lived as an only dog and will do great as an only dog, he does greet every new dog he meets with a happy tail wag!
He’s a social butterfly with people and has absolutely never met a stranger. He will go confidently into just about any setting, whether it’s a beach, a Home Depot, a brewery, anywhere, he’s the mayor and would love to meet and greet!
He has great house manners and reliably goes potty outside. He’s a fan of exploring with his parent and being your best friend and copilot, but certainly loves his lazy days too. He would love a yard to play in and to lay out on warmer days and soak up the sun! He is an avid hugger, kisser and snuggler and is hoping to be your baby! He’s got the biggest mushiest face that he’s absolutely irresistible!

We are all volunteers- so until our dreams come true and we find some amazing donors to give us a facility of our own, we don't have locations that you can visit. We hope to arrange events soon, and when we do, we hope you'll visit us there!

More about this rescue
Great Divide Animal Rescue (GDAR) is a 501(c)3 non profit organization based out of North Carolina. We are run entirely by volunteers who work tirelessly for the rescue, rehabilitation, and successful placement of the most needy of animals.
Our focus is to help animals of all species in need. We do so by providing services in both rescue/foster/placement of homeless pets, but we also partner with several animal control facilities.
Are you looking to help a great organization who saves animals? (primarily dogs but we have rescued even horses, pigs, donkeys, mules and kitties!) We would love to hear from you!
Are you looking to find an amazing companion to make your heart and home complete? we would LOVE to work with you to help you find that perfect match!
