My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benson is a neutered male ~2yr old bully mix that is looking for a sport or working home. Benson is high food and toy drive for training. He's confident, bomb proof, and eager to learn new things. Benson will engage with his toy with anyone at any location. We recommend him for detection, wilderness SAR, or sport placement.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

https://www.cat5k9.org/adopt

2.

Interview

We will set up a phone interview after your application has been reviewed.

3.

Meet the Pet

If you are local. Out of state adopters do not have to meet the dog in advance though we high recommend you do.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees vary per dog. Out-of-state adoption is allowed, transport costs are the adopters responsibility.

Note: All of the Category 5 K9 washouts are young adult dogs and tend to be confident and high energy. We highly recommend a meet-and-greet prior to adoption.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Once an adoption application is completed and reviewed we will set up a day/time for you to meet the pet you are interested in Lytle, TX. We do not currently have any open facilities for meet-and-greets.

More about this rescue

Category 5 K9 works with shelters, rescues, and owners to identify dogs that have the potential to become working canines. We work with these dogs to find a job they will excel at, whether that is search and rescue, narcotics detection, or service work. Occasionally we will pull a dog that after evaluation does not appear to have what it takes either physically or environmentally for the programs we work with. These dogs are made available for adoption to pet and sport homes.
