Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mojo! At just 1 year old and 14 lbs is just naturally a lover (once he feels safe & sound in his environment). When this little guy looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes, your heart can't help but melt.
Mojo is a cute as can be Dachshund / Schnauzer mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes that make excellent pets.
(And yes, he is a boy! The harness we sent his foster home with didn't quite fit, so she made due with what she had. Who said boys can't rock pink!?!)
Mojo has been through a lot in his short life. He was rescued from the the streets of Texas with another like-sized dog. Both were brought to the local kill shelter and were unable to thrive in the chaos of that environment. The shelter director, known for her big heart when it comes to frightened little dogs, saved both Mojo and his doggy friend from euthanasia. She had enough experience to know that underneath street dirt and very fearful presentations, these were dogs just craving love and kindness. The director, with this in mind, sent Mojo to Colorado, and to Farfel's Rescue so we could get him out of the shelter and into a safe foster home. Mojo is now in his foster home and within minutes of being home he has started to warm up already!

"Mojo is a sweet little love bug! When he first arrived he didn’t want to leave his crate, and was pretty scared. So when he is adopted, his adopter should expect him to be timid for about a day. He warmed up super fast though and has started to show his puppy personality!
When I brought him home, I placed his crate in the spare room and opened it up and walked away to let him come out on his own. Over the span of 4 hours I would come visit him in the room, tossing treats and letting him come to me. By the evening he had chosen to come sit next to me and get pet. He then took a nap by my legs.
He loves loves freeze dried chicken!
After those few hours he decided he liked me and would cry lightly when I left the room. In the morning he was happy to come out for treats from me. We then let him explore more of the house and he found toys and began to play.
He loves to play with and rip up toys and is really good at getting the squeaker out. He’s very puppy! Two friends came by and within 10 minutes of them being quiet and tossing treats from afar he was taking treats from them and also let them pet him.
He’s comfortable now with being pet all over - he’s nervous to get his leash and harness on but with a clip on harness (vs over the head) he allowed me to put it on.
He sleeps in his crate in my bedroom overnight and doesn't make a peep.
Today was the first time we took him out to potty (on two leashes for extra security) and he pottied right away. He’s seemed happy to be outside but will be learning more about walking on leash.
He is very affectionate and seems to really want to be with people. He bonded to me quickly but he was also happy to sit by and get pets from others. The key with him is lots of treats and letting him come to you on his own terms."

Farfel's Rescue would love to see Mojo in a home with a couple or individual (since Mojo is scared at first, no kids please) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog who will be initially fearful. We'd hate to see Mojo left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home as he seems to be too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Mojo will thrive on spending his time near his people, getting loved up periodically throughout the day.
We'd like to place Mojo in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Harry to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.
Mojo has been fully vetted and vaccinated in order to earn his interstate health certificate for transport between Texas and Colorado. He has also been neutered to support Farfel's commitment to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation in the canine community.
Mojo is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Mojo please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
