In 2022 Shel was surrendered by an owner who let her run outside. No surprise she ended up pregnant. She gave birth to 8 huge puppies- named after Shel Silverstein poems- And found a home herself. She had kids, cats, and another dog in her family.
Flash forward to now… her family situation changed and they were no longer able to care for their dogs. Both were returned back to SAAP. The good news is- since being rescued in 2022, she has known nothing but love. The bad news- people often say she looks intimidating (nothing could be more wrong) and bigger dogs have a tougher time getting adopted .
Shel is a husky mix, around 60lbs. She is a low to medium energy- not the crazy you usually associate with huskies. She LOVES kids and all people. She doesn’t jump up, and knows sit and paw. She loves being outdoors and also inside on the couch. So she would do well with any lifestyle!
She lived with cats now and in the past and does fine. With dogs she can come off a little strong at first. In no way does she need to be an only dog, but would likely need slow introductions with them.
She is housebroken and not destructive so she isn’t crated-aside from when yummy food is left on the counter. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.
