My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello friends!! My name is HOLLY and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Pointer/Lab mix

  • Age: approx. 3 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 45 lbs

  • Current Location: Texas

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued in October 2023. I had been dumped on a county road in the middle of nowhere with my NINE puppies. Shortly after being rescued, my entire litter came down with Parvovirus. Sadly, 8 out of my 9 babies did not survive. After rescue, I had to go through heartworm treatment before I could be ready for adoption. I am now heartworm negative (yay) and ready to find my forever home! I have now been at the shelter for 14 months and my rescuers are so shocked that I haven't been adopted. They say I am one of the sweetest dogs they've had! Think you have room in your home for me? I deserve the very bestest after all I've been through!

TEMPERAMENT - I am a superrrr sweet girl who is very friendly. I can be a bit anxious in new situations (hey, who isn't, right?), but once I feel safe and comfortable, I warm up :) I have bouts of playfullness but I also really enjoy time snoozing on the couch. The perfect combination, if you ask me, hehe. I love kids and other dogs- truly I'm the whole package!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - In true Pointer fashion, I can be energetic at times! I also can be show some anxious energy in new environments, but once I'm comfortable I'm a relatively calm pup. I would thrive with a good balance of exercise time and snooze time. I bet I'm perfectly suited to hiking and adventuring in the Pacific Northwest, followed by some cuddles and naps by the fire.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yup! Check out my video - I am all wiggles, love, and kisses with kiddos!

    • as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!)

  • Dogs – Yup! There's lots of doggos at the shelter and we get along just fine.

  • Cats – Yup! Video coming soon!

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I do pretty well on a slip leash but would love an adopter who is willing to continue working with me on my leash skills.

  • Crate trained - yes! there may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but with proper use, the crate can be my safe space :)

  • House trained – yes, when I was living with a foster I was very good at doing my business outside when on walks. I am back at the shelter now, so I will need some time to remember my housetraining habits once I go to my new home. I'm sure with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement in my new home, I'll remember quickly!

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

  • I have tested negative for heartworm after treatment.

  • I will be tested for distemper and parvo before travelling (although I've been vaccinated for both!)

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my ground transport to Edmonds, Washington. My adopter needs to be willing to drive to Edmonds, Washington to pick me up! :)
