Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
From the foster home: Our foster dog, Zena, really needs a forever home as soon as possible. This is a little long, but please read:
As some of you know, we took on a hospice foster back on June 13, 2024. At that point, it was thought that Zena had Lymphoma and her prognosis wasn’t great…maybe a couple months…maybe a bit more. We knew we didn’t want Zena to live out what we thought were her last days, at a shelter. So, we decided to hospice foster her.
After months of follow up vet visits, and her nodes not growing like expected with her diagnosis, the vet did a biopsy to verify her diagnosis. Good news is, Zena does NOT have cancer after all! They took her off all her medications and monitored her; she got a “clean bill of health.”
The bad news is, our dog that we had prior to getting Zena has started to not get along with her…at all. Separating them (our temporary solution) isn’t going the greatest, and as much as we would love to make Zena a permanent addition to the family, she needs a home where she can continue to thrive. I think she needs to be in a home where she is either the only dog OR with a dog that is laidback and submissive. Regarding cats, she does fine with our dog savvy cat (she’s indifferent). Also, she would probably do best in a home that either has no children OR older children because when this little couch potato does play, she can get super excited and she is a strong girl.
Zena deserves a forever home where she can have some peace. Her beginning wasn’t the greatest… From my understanding, she was adopted out of the shelter back in 2020, and was brought back to the shelter after being found abandoned at a home with another dog.
Our good intentions are not working out in Zena’s favor and we’re absolutely heartbroken about it. Please help us find Zena a forever home where she can be herself and roam freely with her humans. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Zena, please reach out to the Lewis County Humane Society.
Thank you ❤️.
