Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Landenberg, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Oakley and Watson! Watson a 9-year-old, 9 lb. Spaniel mix and Oakley a 10-year-old, 7 lb. Yorkie are a bonded pair that were found as strays. Their sweet faces called to us and we brought them into our rescue.
Watson is almost fully potty trained and is comfortable with belly bands and pee pads. He has good vision and hearing and only required a dental. Watson gets along well with kids and dogs but will bark at big dogs. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and would be fine without a yard. Watson can handle stairs and is super happy to be picked up and cuddled. He is comfortable sleeping in a human bed or a doggy one.
Oakley is also still working on potty training and is doing very well. He is comfortable with belly bands and pee pads. Oakley has good vision and hearing and only needed a dental. He has no teeth left so he will require wet food. Oakley gets along well with dogs and kids. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained and would be fine without a yard. Oakley can handle stairs and is comfortable sleeping in a human bed or a doggy one. He is great with being handled and really enjoys being in someone’s lap.
Oakley and Watson love their people and their ideal home would have someone around most of the time. Both dogs take comfort from one another and enjoy napping and playing together. If you need two super cute, super sweet, couch buddies, then these are the guys for you. Please apply today!

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers. For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.
Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue
We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).
Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
