Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Caesar is a 1 year old (born 4/21/09) black male with natural ears. He came into rescue due to a divorce. He was originally turned into a shelter and while he was there they started obedience training using a clicker. The staff said that he was very clicker savvy and demonstrated an enthusiasm for it. Caesar is currently in a boarding facility just waiting for the right home to come his way. They only have the nicest things to say about him, he's an angel in the kennel, never makes any messes in his run, will lie on his cot and chew on his Kong. He loves to go in the play yard and chase his ball and then enjoys laying in the sun. He has a lot of puppy in him and he wants to play with other dogs between the fence. He'd do well with another dog close in age to play with so he could burn off some energy. Caesar really loves to be with people and you can see it in his eyes, he really wants to please you. He's very good on a leash and rides well in the car. No cats, Caesar was cat tested and he is way too interested in them. We don't have any history of him with small children, so he'd be better placed with children 10 years and older.
Update 11/10/10 - Caesar is a great dog. He plays with his toys for hours and will go out in the yard an play for more hours by himself. You never hear a word from him. I think he may have a good chance as an agility dog. Loves to run and jump through the air. Just because it's fun. Caesar would love to have another dog to play with. He eats great, walks well on lead, listens to you when you ask him to come providing your in a fenced yard or area. He has great manners. He is a very clean dog. Never a mess any where! Not a sloppy eater or drinker. He does need a slow introduction when he first meets a dog, so a dog park right now isn't an option. Its not that he's aggressive, its that he likes to play and will put his head over a dogs neck and press down, which can be perceived by some dogs as a sign of dominance . Any one that adopts or fosters this wonderful boy will be so pleased and glad they did.
Update 12/31/10 - Today we took our three dogs for a visit and play date with Caesar. We introduced each of the dogs one at a time to Caesar starting with our twelve year old, senior, male Lab who has cancer and arthritis in his hips. Caesar met our Lab at the fence with puppy bows and tail wags. After a gradual introduction on lead we let our Lab and Caesar off leash in the fenced yard and they did wonderful. Caesar did want to play a little rougher than our Lab was able, but the two got along great. Next we introduced our deaf and visually impaired, two year old, male Dane. Once again, Caesar was all puppy bows and tail wags. Again, after a gradual introduction we let our Dane and Caesar off lead and the two had a blast running around the play yard together and wrestling. Caesar and our male Dane are close in age, size and energy level and they were a good match for each other. Lastly, we introduced our three year old, female Dane who has wobblers, spinal spondylosis and hip dysplasia. In this instance, because of our female Dane’s disabilities we kept both dogs on their leads. And once again, Caesar met her as the happy boy he is! Our Dane wanted to play with Caesar just as badly as Caesar wanted to play with her, unfortunately Caesar is just too strong for our fragile girl. Caesar did phenomenal with a gradual introduction to all three of our dogs (one dog at a time). By the end of our visit all doggies were happy, and exhausted from all the play. Caesar will definitely need a fenced yard as he loves to run and play. And an energetic, young, large size doggie playmate would be ideal. A smaller sized dog, an older dog or a physically disabled dog would not fare well with Caesar’s level of play and could suffer an injury. Caesar is such a wonderful, handsome boy and will make a grand addition to loving family!
