My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Star is a stunning 2-year-old brindle bulldog mix who was found as a stray. This girl is an absolute mush! She's playful and full of energy, but once she's had her fun, she'll happily crawl right into your lap for some snuggles. Star's ideal family would include sturdy kids aged 13+ since she can be an enthusiastic and intense playmate. We're still learning about her dog-friendly status, but she is so so sweet, and is more than ready to find her forever home. If you're looking for a playful companion who doubles as a cuddle bug, Star could be the one for you!

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
