My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nutmeg is currently in a foster home, and not housed at the BCAS building, please place an application to show interest and give us your contact information to move forward.

Nutmeg is a sassy, playful girl who is my busy bee. It’s actually been hard to get good pictures of her as she is rarely still long enough. She will “talk” to you, especially around mealtime, and give nice, sweet purrs with some good pets. She will cuddle but doesn’t want to be stationary too long until she’s got to go check on the dust bunnies in the corner and explore to make sure everything is in order around the house. When that is all done and everything is in order, she will come back and hang out wherever you are.

She loves all toys but particularly enjoys crinkle balls and any toy that has a feather. With this cold weather she has also appreciated the heated pad/bed. She appears to prefer cuddle beds.

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
