My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Suede will be one-year-old on July 5, 2006. She is a seal (red & white) 16-pound, spayed female who is up to date on all vaccinations. She is heartworm negative. Suede came to us at the age of 9 months after having been bought at the age of 9 weeks for the purpose of breeding. When her owner discovered that she had juvenile cataracts, she turned Suede over to Boston Brigade . A bg thanks to this lady who chose to do the right thing and not breed a dog with a known hereditary eye condition to pass on to her future puppies. As the intent was to breed her, Suede was not socialized well with either humans or other dogs. She had never seen grass, was afraid of loud noises, the wind blowing, just about everything. She wouldn't let you get too close to her and would run if you tried. Since being in foster care she has learned to get along well with her 3 foster sisters and 1 foster brother (they are best friends now); she has learned to use the doggie door (her foster mom still takes her out to ensure no accidents); is crate trained; plays with toys; knows "NO"; walks on leash, and is doing great with her housebreaking. Suede is a puppy! She does like to chew! She needs supervision so she doesn't get into bad habits like chewing things she shouldn't, digging, barking, and to continue with her housebreaking. Suede is a smart little girl and learns very fast. She needs another dog(s) to play with and is very energetic and curious. She is very affectionate and follows her foster mom and dad all around; a complete turnaround from the first day of running. She has learned to trust and loves to cuddle and gives great Boston kisses. Although she is now "at home" and is confident and playful and affectionate in her foster home, her socialization with strangers continues. She will still occasionally growl and be very shy and timid with strangers, but she is getting better all the time and is making great improvement with each new person she meets.
Suede had surgery for prolapsed rectum and it was very successful and she has no problems with that at all. We are hoping to have surgery done on Suede's eyes around Sept or August to remove the cataracts. Suede will need placement in the San Diego area to continue her follow up care for her eyes following surgery, which will consist of a yearly exam and possibly eye drops. Suede is an awesome little Boston girl who will bond with her new family and bring so much love with her to her new home. Her foster mom says: "She is one of a kind."

Issues: Juvenile cataracts. Needs placement in San Diego to continue her follow up for her eyes

Personality: Shy but loving little puppy. Puppy behavior....she needs work to learn not to steal your slippers and chew them, and continue to learn to trust strangers.
