Minnie’s journey is one that tugs at the heartstrings and showcases the incredible power of love and perseverance. When she arrived at a shelter in Texas in late August, she was one of the worst cases of neglect they had ever seen. It’s heartbreaking to think of how many people passed her by in this bustling metropolitan city, unaware of the suffering she was enduring. Thankfully, someone finally took notice and brought her to us, giving her a chance at a new life.
Initially, Minnie was placed on the euthanasia list due to her severe condition. With malnutrition, skin and eye infections, and a fear of the world around her, it seemed like her story might end too soon. But we couldn’t let go of her; she had already captured our hearts. With the support of our dedicated medical team and two incredible foster caregivers, we committed to helping Minnie heal.
Minnie faced numerous challenges, including carpal hyperextension due to chronic malnutrition. Our veterinary team advised us to gradually increase her activity level, believing that time, good nutrition, and playtime with other dogs would help her legs strengthen. With patience and love, we watched as Minnie’s transformation began.
Fast forward four months, and we are overjoyed to share that Minnie is now a vibrant, playful puppy! She’s running, playing with her furry friends, and showing us the joy of life that she so deserves. Her coat is growing in beautifully, hinting at her retriever mix heritage, and she’s blossoming into the loving companion we always knew she could be.
Now, all Minnie needs is a forever home to complete her incredible story. It’s time for Minnie to leave her past behind and start a bright new chapter filled with love, adventure, and happiness.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this resilient girl, Minnie is waiting to meet you! Let’s give her the forever family she deserves and show her that kindness is the norm in this world.

From Foster: Minnie really looks good and has come out of her shell like she was meant to be here! She’s very content and happy. Minnie is fully house trained and learns things very quickly. She absolutely LOVES to go for walks. She gets so excited and jumps around. Minnie sits for the leash and treats. She organizes all her stuffed animals and chews around her in the crate too, she loves her new life.
There is a cat that likes to lay in our back yard (not ours). The cat doesn’t run when Minnie approaches. Minnie gets close to her and whines and woofs at her to try to get her to move. When she doesn’t, Minnie loses interest and goes about her business. We think she would do great with cats in a home as well.
Minnie was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.
Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
