My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

ATDR

Hi there! My name’s Elly, and I may be small—just 6.5 pounds of silver dapple sass—but don’t let my size fool you. I’ve got a big personality packed into this tiny frame! I’m about 8 years old (a lady never tells her exact age, of course), but you’d never guess it watching me zoom around. I even figured out the doggie door faster than some of my younger foster siblings. What can I say? I’m a quick study!

Life hasn’t always been easy. My previous family loved me, but I had some dental issues that needed more care than they could provide. That’s how I ended up here, getting the help I needed—and now I’m rocking my signature look with my tongue hanging out. People say it just adds to my charm!

I might be small, but I hold my own at meal and treat time. Whether it’s with my fellow doxies or the bigger pups, I’m not shy about wiggling my way to the front of the line. Treats are my love language, after all. When I’m not munching or exploring the yard, I’m cuddled up, soaking in all the love I can get.

I’m house-trained, mobile, and ready to share my sassy, sweet self with someone who has room in their heart for a little dog with a lot of spirit. Could that be you? If so, please submit an adoption application for Elly! She's more than ready and anxious to move right into your heart and your lap!

1.8.25 Update: Sweet Elly lost several teeth in her dental today, but she will be reviewing adoption applications while she's recovering in hopes of having her own forever home and loving person when she feels better soon!

More about this rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue, Inc., is made up of a group of volunteers whose primary goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home disabled and otherwise endangered Dachshunds who have found themselves homeless for one reason or another. It is our policy that no dogs will be adopted out without first being spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines updated, are heartworm negative, are on heartworm preventative, and have had all other health issues we consider important to the pet’s life addressed that we are able.

All incoming Dachshunds will be placed in temporary foster homes, where they will be evaluated while living indoors with the foster families in a safe and nurturing home environment, until such time as they are ready to be placed in a loving, adoptive, forever home.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
