My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

Papa Emeritus tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.

A volunteer writes: In pursuit of cuddles Papa Emeritus pushed his feet onto the cubby wall to propel himself into my arms. Settling in with his fluffy cheeks in my hand, he softly turned this way and that while looking up expectantly for pets. Nuzzling for emphasis and loudly purring, Papa Emeritus swirled into our new friendship with well deserved fanfare. He's a big guy with an even bigger heart and is hoping his fantastic shows of affection will help him to win the right hearts. So, he snuggles and cuddles, purrs and twirls. Papa Emeritus would pop up each time he heard a noise in the hallway and wait for what would happen next before shrugging his kitty shoulders and going back to pets. Papa Emeritus was brought to us by way of the police, so we don't know too much about his backstory before coming to us. He's now onto bigger and better things and ready for a brighter future with a forever family ready to share all the love and affection.
