Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Jack, a six-month-old Cane Corso with a heart full of potential. Jack didn't get a lot of socialization as a puppy, so he's very wary in new situations and around new people. However, once he warms up, he transforms into a loving and cuddly companion. Jack enjoys in the company of other dogs and might do best with a canine buddy to help him feel secure and confident (this is not required). He did grow up with kids.
Jack needs a quiet home with a family experienced with large guardian breeds like Cane Corsos, Malinois, Great Danes, or Pyrenees. His ideal family will be patient and committed to using positive reinforcement to help him navigate his fears. Please include your experience with these breeds in your application.
While Jack may always be cautious in new situations, with the right support, he will continue to blossom into a wonderful companion. If you have the experience and love to give this sweet boy the safe and nurturing environment he needs, Jack could be the perfect addition to your family.
If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways:
Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR**
Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available.
PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet.
All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
