My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 2 years
Weight: 30.8 kg / 67.9 lbs

Meet McGuire, an energetic and vibrant German Shepherd with a heart full of love, though he’s been through a lot. This handsome boy started his journey as a stray, and now he’s looking for a fresh start in a new home. McGuire has been feeling stressed in the shelter environment, which is understandable given his active nature and need for attention and exercise. He’s full of energy and would thrive in a home where he can run, play, and get the mental stimulation he craves. McGuire is ready to put his past behind him and become a loyal, loving companion. If you have an active lifestyle and the time to provide the care and training he needs, McGuire could be the perfect addition to your family.

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
