A little bit about Asher: - children unknown, older recommended due to fearfulness - small animals unknown - dog-savvy cat okay, does bark at cats - dogs unknown, potential for select other dog in home pending successful dog-to-dog
An incredibly shy little guy who`s looking for a patient family, say hello to Asher! Surrendered through no fault of his own, Asher has had a difficult time in the shelter with all of the strange smells, loud noises, and new people. It takes him quite a while to warm up to new people, so he`ll need a quiet, calm family that can offer him all of the time and space he needs to adjust. However, once you`ve earned his trust, you`ll start to see Asher`s cuddley, spunky side! He`s eager to be where his people are and can be quite the vocal boy. Having previously lived with both cats and a dog, there`s a chance that Asher could do well with another resident pet in the home. However, it`s recommended that any children in the home are older and have a strong understanding of dog body language to know when he may be feeling overwhelmed. Earning the trust of a shy animal is so worth it, especially once you have Asher at your side! So come (quietly) say hello to Asher today!

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.
Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.
Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.
Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.
Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
