My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gibson !!
This guy is so loving and happy all the time. He’s an active and adventurous guy looking for a great new home.
Gibson is an approx 10 month old male. He was said to be a Yorkie mix but seems unlikely. He looks like a poodle/dachshund or a medium terrier mix. Hard to tell. He weighs 25 Pounds and is about full grown.
He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions.
HE IS NOT HYPOALLERGENIC. With that said he does not shed much compared to a regular dog.
Gibson is very affectionate and sweet. It does not appear he had much training before coming to us so he is still learning many things. He is extremely loving and wants to be right by your side. Clingy is a good description of him.
He is doing better each day but. He will still need help and work with this from his new family. He learned sit quickly and is working on other training. He is very treat/food motivated which helps with training.
Gibson is high on life. He’s eager to go go go and play. He’s very active and outgoing. He’s energetic and needs plenty of playtime and exercise.
He has done really well with other dogs. He loves playing with them. He can be hyper and annoying to dogs that don’t want to play but he’s just so full of love. He’s amazing with kids. He adores them. He’s happy to get rowdy with a houseful of little ones. He does still jump up on people and kids but we are working on it. We have no idea how he would do with cats.
Gibson is crate trained but can be vocal when in the kennel. After a few days he has begun to quiet down and learn to settle. He’s just clingy and doesn’t want to be apart from his people. He is learning more and more each day but will need continued training. He would not be a good apartment dog due to this. He is doing great with his leash training and does fine on car rides. He is not potty trained yet. He is working on it but will need his new family to understand he needs time to learn.
He has not had any aggression with food, treats, or toys with people or other animals. He enjoys playing with toys, exploring the backyard, going on walks and soaking in lots of love from people.
He did have a little stranger danger episode and growled and showed teeth at the vet when the tech went to take him from his foster mom. He has already grown attached to her and became protective. He will need more socialization with strangers and to learn he doesn’t need to be protective in that way. He has two training sessions with a wonderful trainer being donated by his foster family to help his new family learn the best way to manage and train this behavior.
Gibson overall has a fantastic personality and is a wonderful family dog. If you are willing to keep working with him on his puppy training you will end up with the greatest companion.
Vet and home checks required.
No apartments he is to vocal when alone
Located in Hampton VA.
(He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
