Dog Name: Spike
Breed: Mixed
Sex: Male
Age: 8/9 months
Weight: 40/50 lbs
Medical Needs: none
Housebroken: mostly, working on bell training
Crate trained: Yes, but will bark if he has to go potty and he will not wait long if he has to go. Crate door stays open all day and he finds it as his safe zone as well.
Good in the car: in a crate, yes. Will be testing soon
Good on a leash: yes but will be working with him more in the future
Energy level: Medium. Runs around with his foster siblings outside. Inside, he’s more of a controlled play. Huge cuddler.
Need a fenced in yard: No, but would need to be on a leash because he is flighty still
Dog Friendly: Yes, but takes a little to warm up
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, he’s a big cuddler and would be ok being the only spoiled dog in the house
Cat Friendly? Yes. He sniffed and moved on.
Kid Friendly: yes and no. He does fine with my 13 year old son but he’s still shy and anxious so we are working on it.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with proper supervision.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Spike is a nervous guy, just like his brothers were, so he just needs a little patience and love. He prefers for anyone new to be on his level and then he will melt in your arms. Once he’s warmed up he will not leave you alone. His weakness is belly rubs. He’s a gentleman, he doesn’t jump or snatch treats or toys. He would make a great walking/hiking or Netflix and chill companion.
