My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cactus is fostered in Garden City, MO.

This spirited 2-year-old foster pup is bursting with personality and ready to bring joy to your home! Cactus is the ultimate playmate, always eager to chase a ball and engage in a fun game of fetch. When the playtime winds down, you’ll find him snuggling at the end of your bed, keeping you company as he dreams of his next adventure.

Cactus came to us after being dumped at a home with another dog.  Cactus had a terrible coat and was missing patches of fur.  He has been seen and medically cleared.  With good food and love of his foster parents, he has blossomed into a beautiful gorgeous red tri boy.

Not only is Cactus a fantastic companion, but he’s also your very own doorbell—he’ll let you know when visitors arrive! He gets along wonderfully with both cats and other dogs, proving he’s a social butterfly. With a heart full of love for toys and a food motivation that will make training a breeze, Cactus is sure to win you over with his adorable wiggle butt!

Cactus does prefer to have another dog in the home as he is still building confidence, and he would ideally love someone that is home more often than not - maybe someone who works from home part-time.

Already kennel and house trained, this delightful pup is ready to find his forever home and bring a spring in your step. Don’t miss out on the chance to welcome Cactus into your life!  Please visit our website to find out more about our adoption process and submit an adoption application for this handsome redhead.

Cactus is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
