Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi! My name is Vixen! I was born outside in some trees and when I was old enough, my Mom brought me (and my 2 siblings Dasher and Rudy) to this cool place called “Cat Camp” where this nice lady had food, water and warm shelter. I loved it so much that I stayed and watched the resident cats through the door as they played. At night I would sometimes sleep in the heated food bowl to stay warm! Within 2 weeks, I let the nice lady pet me and then pick me up and bring me inside where it was even warmer. I was a little scared at first and the nice lady, now my foster Mom, had to syringe feed me for a few days so I could grow. I became attached to one of the resident cats who is my BFF now and he showed me it was okay to eat on my own. I now weigh 2.5 lbs as of January 7, 2025!
My Mom named me Vixen because I was the most playful one of my siblings at “Cat Camp” and she says I have little tan hooves like a reindeer.
I am learning how to be a kitten instead of just learning survival skills.
As part of socialization, I am being introduced to different parts of the house, different objects, other cats and people, and different experiences—all to help me adjust to new situations.
I am starting to exhibit all of the behaviors of adult cats, trying more daring and complex feats, using my body language to communicate with my foster Mom and seeking out attention.
I am getting more skilled and adventurous, learning so much from the resident cats!
I learned to use the litter box right away, I’m scratching on scratch posts and pads, and I have learned to jump on and off my foster Mom’s bed. (I like to sneak up and lay next to her head when she is sleeping)
I don’t bite or use my claws when playing with my foster Mom and I’m getting used to loud noises such as a blow dryer and vacuum cleaners.
I’m running and playing with the other cats, I like to wrestle with cat nip fish toys, chase ping pong balls, and I LOVE squeezable treats!
I also love tunnels, toy mice and sleeping in the cat tree cradle.
I’m learning my name and I make cute little vibrating sounds with my voice when I see my favorite BFF resident cat.
I purr when being pet and even roll over for belly rubs.
I have not met a dog or children yet but I have adjusted so well to other things that I think I would be okay.
I would really love to find my fur-ever home soon so my foster Mom can help my siblings next! I even get to bring my special tie blanket with me that she made!

Additional adoption info
We do not allow cats to be adopted that will be declawed, or outdoor cats. All pets are fixed, microchipped and have shots prior to go home. On some occasions we may let a cat go home if it's too young to be fixed if the adopter is a previous adopter and we have an appointment set for them to bring to the vet for the sterilization with follow-up. Also we do not adopt out single kittens unless they have another cat in the home. Otherwise we require them to take two.

We do meet and greets with The Kitten League through Petsmart in Sioux Falls every other week, and we also do regular community events such as street festivals and comiccons. We are always looking for new and different ways to market our cats. We also are doing our very first Kitten Yoga fundraiser in January 2024 to help raise funds and show kittens off for adoption. If these go well we may make it a regular monthly or weekly/biweekly event.

More about this rescue
Our mission is to foster community welfare and improvement through protecting the quality of lives for feral and free roaming cats. Sioux Empire TNR works with compassionate community volunteers, local government officials, and companion animal rescues to utilize humane population control of unaltered, free-roaming, feral, and/or abandoned domestic cats in our area through education and the use of Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). We also provide referrals for low or no-cost sterilization surgeries and provide access to a wide range of resources for TNR education and colony management in the Sioux Empire and surrounding areas.
