Gunther is at risk due to behavior concerns. Gunther does have a bite history was reported to jumping on his owner, a family member pushed Gunther off and the family member was bitten on his finger drawing blood. Gunther in care was initially fearful, but has warmed up to staff slowly and is social during interactions. Medically, Gunther is currently healthy.

Gunther was surrendered to the care center by the police after his owners requested his removal due to a biting incident in the home. Gunther was in his kennel when it broke, though it's unclear if the kennel was faulty or improperly secured. Gunther became excited and wiggly, Gunther ran to his owner and jumped up on them. Since the owner was pregnant, a family member quickly intervened to push Gunther off. Unfortunately, the family member was bitten on the left pinky finger, which drew blood and required medical attention. At the care center, Gunther was initially fearful but has since warmed up to selective handlers, even engaging in play with them.
