My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dawkins – A Big Doberman with an Even Bigger Heart!

Dawkins is a 1.5-year-old blue Doberman with a huge personality—and at nearly 100 pounds, he’s
physically big too! This lovable goofball thrives on activity and adores zooming around the yard with his
favorite rope toy or chasing down a game of fetch. Bonus: he’s a champion at catching treats mid-air!

Dawkins has also started exploring agility training and loves it—so far, he knows how to jump and go
through tunnels, and he’s having a blast learning. It’s a great outlet for his energy and gives him a
chance to show off just how smart and eager to please he is.

A classic “Velcro Doberman,” Dawkins wants to be part of everything you’re doing. Whether you’re
working, relaxing, or just moving from room to room, he’s never far from your side.
He’s excellent with baths, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing—true spa-day material. Nail trims, however,
make him a little nervous, so they’re best done with two people or by a groomer or vet.

Dawkins is crate-trained and happily uses his crate for sleeping or when he’s feeling a little cranky and
needs a reset. He gets along well with other dogs, but slow, thoughtful introductions are key to helping
him feel secure.

He has a high prey drive, so cats and small animals are not recommended. Dawkins also requires a
securely fenced-in yard where he can safely run and play off-leash.

Like many young Dobermans, he can become overstimulated and sometimes reactive—especially when
he sees bicycles, which he really doesn’t like. Continued desensitization and positive reinforcement
training will go a long way. He has already made amazing progress and needs a committed adopter who
will continue helping him mature into the wonderful boy he’s meant to be.

Dawkins will thrive in an active, structured home that understands the needs of a large, energetic
working breed. He’ll do best with someone dedicated to providing both physical and mental
stimulation—and lots of love.

If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and larger-than-life companion who will make you laugh every day,
Dawkins just might be your perfect match! Please fill out an application at www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DPR/Dog
