Meet Blackie!
Blackie is a 2 year old 34 pound ray of sunshine who’s ready to find her forever home! With her sleek black coat and radiant personality, this playful girl is as beautiful as she is loving. Blackie is spayed, heartworm-negative, and comes with excellent manners to boot—she’s housebroken, walks nicely on a leash without pulling (though she prefers a relaxed pace), and rides like a dream in the car. Whether you’re headed on an adventure or simply enjoying a quiet day at home, Blackie is the perfect companion.
Her personality is a delightful mix of spunk and calm. She loves to play and can keep you entertained with her joyful energy, but she’s also a pro at mellowing out when it’s time to relax. Blackie absolutely adores people and thrives on human interaction, making her a wonderful fit for families, couples, or singles who want a loyal, loving companion. She’s fantastic with kids, friendly with other dogs, and even gets along with dog-savvy cats—though her playful nature might lead to some enthusiastic attempts to make friends!
However, Blackie has her preferences and isn’t a fan of chickens, so a chicken-free home is a must. When you take a dog into your life, you need to understand the commitment that dog ownership entails. So please before you apply be sure you are not just ready for the joy but are prepared for the responsibility.
Before applying to adopt, we encourage you to research the financial and time commitments involved in raising a dog. It’s important to have discussions as a family, especially if this is your first dog. We recommend looking into training options as well.

Please note that adoptions are limited to the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), and applicants must be at least 21 years old.

While we may not be able to speak with every applicant directly, rest assured that each application will be carefully considered. Our coordinators will work to match each pets personality and needs with your family’s expectations and experience, so it’s crucial to include any important information in your application.
